Final project will have 2 parts addressing the following question(s): 1. How do you take what you’ve considered, and work it into your life’s work? What now? 2. Who is doing work that is connected to this question? Record a video (2-3 minutes) with the answers to the questions above in the context of the critical and creative reflection you chose…for example, if you chose critical and creative reflection THIS WHAT THE PROFESSOR SENT US I was going to wait until tomorrow and send an email with the powerpoint breaking down the final assignment, which I will still do once I present it to my face-to-face class (I want to wait until after I present it there so I can update it to address any unforeseen questions they bring up as you all might have similar questions). However, I know some of you are working on it now and I have already received some questions, so I figured it would be best to send this info now. Before reading the rest of this announcement, I highly suggest that you CAREFULLY read that assignment description on the syllabus and watch the instructional video on canvas. Please note that the video says to choose a blog and the syllabus/online written descriptions say to choose a critical and creative reflection to expand on. When i took over the course, I decided to switch from the blogs to the critical and creative reflections, but could not edit the video as it was pre-recorded. For the purposes of this assignment you may use EITHER a blog or critical and creative reflection, it truly does not matter, just be sure to note which topic or theme you are talking about, which module these topics/themes were presented in and which readings or videos connected to the topics/themes. For example, you may choose to talk about the new understandings you have around culture in the classroom, which was raised in module 5 and you could discuss any of the 6 readings from the book and/or the Coates interview as you discuss your responses to the two questions. The assignment is broken up into two parts: Part 1 – Video response to the two questions. Please note that this video should only be 2-3 minutes long. Given the number of people in the course I will NOT watch more than 3 minutes of any video exceeding that time limit. Therefore if any of the necessary information is not included in those first 2-3 minutes your grade will be impacted. I will be using a rubric, which will be included in the powerpoint you will receive tomorrow, but here are some things to include in the video: – The topic/theme you are reflecting on, including the readings on this topic that resonated with you the most – New understandings you have gained from participating in the course, and particularly after reading the materials in the module you selected to look more deeply into for the project. Try to think back to what you wrote in your original critical autobiography and note any new developments in how you may have conceptualized the topic/themes you are writing since you wrote that in the beginning of the semester. – How you plan to incorporate these new understandings into your future work. What practices will you put into place? What new information and experiences will you seek out? What resources will you need to continue to address the themes/topics you chose to discuss? – The organization that you chose to reach out to and WHY. You should have a clear understanding of their mission and briefly discuss one or two potential ways that you would like to work with this organization or how they could help you to improve your practice and/or deepen your understanding. DO NOT just name the organization and then say you want to learn more about them and what they do. Be specific. Do some research and think about/discuss the specific ways you can collaborate with them. This looks like a lot to cram into 2-3 minutes, but really what I want you to spend the most time on is HOW HAS YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF YOUR SELECTED TOPIC CHANGED/DEVELOPED OVER THE COURSE OF THIS SEMESTER? and HOW WILL YOU INCORPORATE THESE NEW/DEEPER UNDERSTANDINGS INTO YOUR WORK? (this is where the organization comes in and why you need to discuss what you will do with them very specifically).
