I have found out that teachers get more respect in our society than many other types of careers, so that I chose it as a profession. Teaching as a profession involves being communicated with others which I am really interested in. In addition, the most motivation is prophet Mohammad’s ,peace be upon him, saying” Allah, His angels, those living on Heaven and Earth even the ant in its den, the whales, are all praising the one who teaches others to do Good”. Each teacher’s personality must contain several things such as respect, equality, integrity and privacy. Teachers’ manner must be away from oppressive behaviors and prejudiced decision; all students, no matter their race, religion or social class is, should be given the right to participate and to share their views with others. In addition, teachers should save their integrity which is very important to provide good conditions for studying. Moreover, students’ information should be protected for them only because these kinds of information preserve students’ dignity and integrity. Therefore, since we are in a globalization era, teachers must be aware of information dissemination electronically. The objectives of education is changing from period to another; the main purpose of education was to get rid of illiteracy, but since the illiteracy rates have been decreasing ,as the figure provided shows, now our purpose of education, according to the Existentialism, Reconstructionism, and progressivism philosophies, is to produce critical thinking students who are able to solve their daily life problems efficiently. Education must enable a student to distinguish between what is right, to subscribe to it, and what is false, to avoid it. However, knowledge is nothing if it was not accompanied with good ethical values. For example, the most dangerous criminals are those with high expanded knowledge but without morals. So, the true purpose of education must be World illiteracy rate halves between 1970 and 2005 both intelligence and character. Figure 1 As a teacher in the future, I am expected to prepare a very well educated generation. I intend to start teaching my students how to create a full correct sentence in different tenses (past, present and future). After that, I will teach them how to define and describe pictures or situations that they face in their daily lives. I also intend to teach them how to analyze and summarize different kinds of essays such as historical or political essays. In addition, teaching students how to revise some quite bad essays in order to come up with good ones is very important. Moreover, I am going to discuss with them some controversial interesting topics which are not only going to improve their ability in speaking, but also it is going expand their knowledge. Furthermore, I will encourage them to not stop practicing English language whenever and wherever it is possible to practice; practicing English language can be achieved, for example, by choosing two days every week to speak in English with their family members and their friends ID:111960 Name: Zakary Najaa Rashid Al Hakmani Philosophy paper section: 10 There is no doubt that the Omani curriculum has been set in an excellent way, according to Perrenialism, Progressivism and Existentialism philosophies, to qualify students well for their real life, but it is essential to give students different interesting stories in order to improve their reading skill and also to increase their vocabulary. The more the student read, the more they will become better in English language. Although reading is very important, it is not the only way to enhance students’ skills. Teacher can also provide sound clips recorded by native speakers to help students knowing the correct pronunciation of the words. In addition, teachers should offer varied strategies which make students able to memorize a huge number of new words easily and amusingly. Moreover, it is important to give students different controversial issues and ask them to write essays about them. This way is going to develop their writing skill, and at the same time it is going to keep them alive with the contemporary issues. Teacher’s personality should differ according to many aspects such as the subject that he teaches, the type of school that he works in and the geographic location that the school is in. teachers should know how the difference of students’ cultures affects their behaviors; due to that teachers should know how to deal with all students and make them feel that they are in an environment where they are accepted. Teachers should also be able to make the classroom is warm and inviting to all as Perrenialism philosophy states. Teachers should instill the idea that all what students do is to achieve important goals for them because that is the best way to make them engage in the classroom, as studies show. In order to increase student motivation, teachers should allow students to work autonomously, enjoy learning with peers and feel that they are mature enough to achieve their goals. Teachers are expected to create challenging educational activities in order to expand students’ thinking, criticizing and analyzing abilities. Creating activities that are involved working in groups helps to build and strengthen relationships between peers. Knowing what students like and dislike is very important to provide suggested areas where a teacher can interact with his students. Teachers are usually the role models for their students, so they should reflect an ideal image in the classroom about themselves. Teachers should never ever hurt their students either physically or by saying words that may affect their feelings negatively. Kindness is more necessary with students rather than cruelty. Teachers also have to show respect for their students; respect can be shown by telling students the truth always, not being aware of rumors and keeping promises. The more the students get respect from their teachers, the more they feel comfortable in the classroom. Fairness is an important trait that teachers should have. Teachers must not favor some students than others; all students must be equal in teachers’ eyes. Moreover, showing students you are care about them is very important even if it is by sending them a small email, or by sharing them their both happy and sad moments. It is not only important to know how to deal with students from your culture, but it is also important to know how to treat students from other cultures. To manage the classroom well, teachers should give students a clear syllabus of the curriculum tells them what they are expected to do, and what is not allowed for them. Discussing with students the rules at the first class helps to increase trust between students and their teacher, and ensures that all students are going to follow these rules because they are the ones who agreed on them. Teachers who tend to reward their students rather than punishing them are more likable than those who are always being strict with their students. Teachers’ first intention should be how to make students like a subject instead of being aware to convey the facts in the textbook. Teachers should encourage students to ask questions, but they do not have to answer every question; teachers can invite other students to answer some question because , psychologically, students learn more from their partners rather than their teachers. It is boring to listen for teachers explaining the subject always; teachers should use diverse ways in the classroom such as encouraging students to prepare five-minute presentation or choosing some lessons to be explained by students. It is also important to use verbal and non-verbal skills such as body language, ayes contact, clipping, smiling and greeting in the classroom in order to affect students positively Assessments’ tools help teachers to realize students’ level of understanding. There are some criteria that assessments’ tools should contain such as validity, fairness, Reliability and efficiency. There are two types of assessment that teachers should use which are summative and formative assessments. Summative assessment depends on testing students’ understanding once at the end of the course to know how much students got benefit from the course. On the other hand, formative assessment tends to test students’ level of perception frequently during the course. For example, asking students appropriate questions about the materials that are being learned such as tenses, articles or even new vocabularies. Since there are many shy students who can’t participate in class as much as their peers, teachers can create particular kinds of paper exams to assess their students. ID:111960
